We don’t know about you, but every time we see a race-ready Mazda, be it a prototype or a full-metal car, our minds fly to 1991, when the Japanese carmaker won the 24 Hours of Le Mans race with a stellar performance in front of rough competition from the likes of Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz.


Mazda’s Michael Jordan at Le Mans in 1991 was eardrum-smashing 787B. Powered by the now-famous R26B rotary engine, the 787B screamed all its 700+ horsepower out at 9,000 rpm and pulled off a flawless race, averaging 127.6 mph (205.3 kph) over 326 laps.

Mazda says that “players who use Mazda vehicles, such as RX-Vision GT3 Concept, in GT Sport will automatically be granted seed rights to participate in the FIA certified GT Championship (world tours).”
