Who to choose from England’s heroic Australia-beaters: Haskell, Robshaw, Hartley, Billy V? No one epitomised Eddie Jones’s transformed team better than Farrell. Still splendidly aggressive, but now also more focused and disciplined, he organised the defence, made his tackles, moved the ball well – and landed 23 out of 26 kicks at goal.

Telegraph Sport says: “Farrell has been exceptional on this tour. He was England’s totem: ferociously competitive and clinical.” Steve James

Telegraph Sport says: “None of today’s megastars can match Ali’s blend of charisma, athletic brilliance and influence.” Paul Hayward

Willis, British No 23, fought through six qualifying matches and then beat world No 54 Ricardas Berankis to guarantee £50,000 and a date with Roger Federer.

Telegraph Sport says: “You do not often see [such] players… dispatch their [Wimbledon] first-round opponents in straight sets.” Simon Briggs
