Here’s some evidence that the engineers at Nissan’s technical center in Stanfield, Arizona, know how to have fun. As shown by the Nissan-supplied video below, that group needed a hauler to help them shuttle stuff around the grounds, and while they could have just used an old Titan or Frontier, they instead chose to build something far, far more rad.

Working in the secrecy of a garage somewhere on the premises, durability and reliability engineers Roland Schellenberg and Arnold Moulinet sliced up a Nissan Leaf, grafting both Titan and Frontier parts to the car to turn it into the ultimate green-leaning ute, which they dubbed “Sparky.” Nothing makes us happier than seeing automotive engineers escape from their cages, and although we can think of a few higher-horsepower cars we’d rather see turned into pickups (GT-R or Aston Martin Lagonda anyone?), there’s no denying that this one is awesome and also the coolest—the only cool?—Leaf in existence.
