Alpha-N Performance: Up to 655 hp for the AMG GT R
It is no secret that the Mercedes-AMG GT is aimed squarely at the Porsche 911, and at launch in early 2015, its twin-turbocharged 4.0 litre V8 motor came with 462 hp in the GT and 510 hp in the GT S.
Now, the third string to AMG’s GT bow is the even more radical GT R that debuted at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this June. Scheduled for delivery in the spring of 2017, the GT R packs 585 hp, 75 hp more than the GT S, an output that matches the Porsche 911 Turbo S.
Tuning specialist Alpha-N has established that the bi-turbo V8 engine still has plenty of headroom, and is developing a two-stage power increase programme for the GT R.
For 1,799 euros, the entry-level Alpha-N EVOX Tuning kit will take output to 635 hp, with 770 Nm of torque, while for 1,999 euro the second stage delivers 655 hp and 790 Nm.
A set of distinctive OZ Racing Ultraleggera HLT alloy wheels will be available in 8.5×20 and 11.0×20-inch sizes, its bespoke finish nicely complimenting the matt white foil wrapped AMG GT R in the pictures.
The installation of all performance components is done by Alpha-N’s workshop.
