The new Lamborghini supercar could be a version of the Sian FKP 37
Although the teaser released by the company on Twitter isn’t very revealing, it shows a pair of air-channeling winglets that look a lot like the Sian FKP 37’s. There’s a second teaser on Lambo’s website that shows some of the car’s rear end. When brightened, this image reveals three-piece taillights on each side, hexagonal exhaust pipes, and fins at the edge of the deck lid. These are solid clues that this supercar is actually a variant of the Sian FKP 37, but we don’t know what exactly are we dealing with.
Lamborghini is usually offering various performance upgrades for its cars, like SV versions of the Aventador and Performante variants of the Huracan. While a beefed-up version of the Sian is possible, it’s a bit too early for it. Unless Lambo decided to change strategy, such performance models take at least a couple of years to show up. So what could Lamborghini unveil only ten months since the Sian FKP 37 came out? The convertible version, likely called the Spyder, is the most likely scenario here.
But unlike the Huracan, the Sian won’t be a traditional spyder. The supercar’s layout suggests that Lambo will go with a Targa-style version, most likely with a removable top made from carbon-fiber. The drivetrain should carry over unchanged and combine a 6.5-liter V-12 engine with a 48-volt motor. The system delivers a solid 807 horsepower combined and enable the Sian to hit 62 mph in a scant 2.8 seconds. Top speed is rated at 217 mph, a common standard for Lamborghini models.
The new Lambo supercar won’t be the highly anticipated SCV12
Lamborghini is also working on a track-only supercar called the SCV12. This vehicle is being developed by the company Squadra Corsa racing division and packs a 6.5-liter V-12 engine rated at more than 800 horsepower. The SCV12 is also scheduled to break cover this summer, but we’re pretty sure it’s not the car in the teasers. We’ve seen the SCV12 in heavy camouflage, and it features round exhaust pipes and notably bigger air channels at the rear. What’s more, it comes with a massive rear wing, which the car in these teasers doesn’t have.
But we will find out soon enough, so stick around for more on the new Lamborghini supercar on July 8.
