He also hit out at the state of Formula One, describing it as “stale” and
“boring”. “Most people who watch Formula One now see the start, then they
fall asleep, and then, if they are lucky, wake up again for the last few
laps,” Razali said.

Meanwhile, confusion continues over the venue for this year’s German Grand
Prix, after Ecclestone said on Thursday that it would be in Hockenheim.
Normally the venue alternates between Hockenheim and the Nürburgring, but
both have been in dire financial straits.

Telegraph Sport understands that organisers in Hockenheim were ready
not to host the race by cancelling hotel bookings, but Ecclestone’s comments
appear to suggest otherwise.

Ecclestone said: “It’s going to be at Hockenheim, we’re in the middle of doing
something with them. It can’t be Nürburgring because there’s nobody there.”
