We are all keen to know how the running order is going to be once it is dry after Mercedes’ surprise defeat last weekend in Singapore. If it is dry, we have got to expect something similar to Monza, with Mercedes in front, Ferrari very close, and Red Bull a little behind them. It should be a normal form book.
Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel could get a result in Suzuka
But if you look at how close Kimi Raikkonen got in Monza in qualifying, then the writing is on the wall a little bit looking ahead. If it stays wet, then Red Bull are definitely a player. Sebastian Vettel did plenty of laps in the rain but it did not look like Ferrari had anything like the advantage of Singapore.
Button’s future
If Kimi Raikkonen has another year in him at Ferrari, then Jenson Button definitely has another one in him at McLaren. It is all a question of whether Jenson believes he can be in a competitive car. If he can, McLaren-Honda give him assurances and he believes the car will be strong, then I believe he will sign a deal.
Jenson Button, surely, has another season in him
I don’t know the intimate details of his contract and all the options, but all that can be worked out if both parties are willing. If Jenson cannot get a competitive car, does not get the assurances, or just does not feel it, then he will go off and have another life doing other things and be perfectly happy.
