Like in any other sport, motor racing fans have always wondered what it would look like if a NASCAR
stock car lined up against Australian V8s or Formula E race cars. In the real world, such an occurrence would be next to impossible. But Forza Motorsport 6 is not the real world; it’s a world where such imaginary races are about to become possible with the launch of the NASCAR Expansion Pack.
The latest expansion pack to arrive for Forza Motorsport just might be the most anticipated pack to hit the game. That’s not even an exaggeration considering the kind of content this pack has. The biggest addition is the new NASCAR World Tour career mode, which allows gamers to put their NASCAR racers against some of the fastest and most powerful cars in the world. Those who opt to play with the NASCAR stock cars won’t be limited with their choices either as the pack comes with a total of 24 different different 2016-season NASCAR models from teams like Joe Gibbs Racing, Chip Ganassi Racing, Stewart-Haas Racing, Hendrick Motorsports, and Team Penske.
Even better, the actual stock cars of Kyle Busch, Chase Elliott, and six-time Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson are also included in the pack. The three NASCAR drivers also lent their voices in the pack, serving as the “Voices of Motorsport” that introduces fans to the history and technology of NASCAR.
In addition to the new career mode and the infusion of all these NASCAR stock cars, the expansion pack also comes with a new race track – Homestead-Miami Speedway – that will be available in all modes of play. A NASCAR-themed Rivals mode is also available with the pack to go along with League and multiplayer options that gamers can freely enjoy.
If anything, the NASCAR Expansion Pack continues a tradition by Turn 10 Studios to launch some of the most exciting and riveting expansion packs for the latest iteration of the Forza Motorsport video game franchise. We’ve seen a lot of them released in recent months, but there’s no question that the NASCAR Expansion Pack is arguably one of the most exciting expansion packs to come out for Forza 6.
Why it matters
I’m not going to lie. I’ve had this dream at various points in my motor racing fandom. Most of the time, I’ve wondered what a NASCAR stock car would fare if it lined up against a Formula One race car. Well, consider that dream realized because I now get the opportunity to see which of these two racers actually has the leg up over the other. But it’s not just Formula One cars. I’m also excited to line up those new NASCAR racers against GT race cars, endurance race cars, and yes, electric race cars!
That’s the neat things about the NASCAR Expansion Pack and to its eternal credit, Turn 10 Studios is including 24 NASCAR racers from their actual racing teams. Chip Ganassi Racing will have the 2016 Chevrolet #1 Chip Ganassi Racing McDonald’s Chevy SS and the 2016 Chevrolet #42 Chip Ganassi Racing Target Chevy SS in the game.
Joe Gibbs Racing will also have a significant presence in the game with a total of eight race cars, including four Sprint Cup cars: the 2016 Toyota #11 Camry driven by Denny Hamlin, the 2016 Toyota #18 Camry driven by reigning Sprint Cup champion Kyle Busch, and the #19 and #20 Camrys driven by Carl Edwards and Matt Kenseth, respectively. Stewart-Hass Racing is also part of the Expansion Pack and will feature the #10 Chevrolet SS driven by Danica Patrick, the #14 SS driven by Tony Stewart, the #4 car driven by Kevin Harvick, and the #41 racer driven by Kurt Busch.
Not be left out is Hendrick Motorsports and a quartet of its Sprint Cup-running race cars led by Jimmie Johnson (#48), Kasey Kahne (#5), Chase Elliott (#24), and Dale Earnhardt Jr. (#88). Last but certainly not least is Team Penske, which counts the cars of Brad Keselowski (#2) and Joey Logano (#22) as among those that are included in the NASCAR Expansion Pack.
I don’t think I’m going to need to remind everyone how potent the NASCAR Expansion Pack is from a lineup standpoint. The cars that will be available are driven by some of the most famous and most successful NASCAR racers of this generation. That in itself is reason enough to download the pack and enjoy the thrills and spills of NASCAR racing.
