“I want to win for Ferrari, I want to win here and finish the job that we
started some years ago and we will see what the future comes.

“Obviously there has been a lot of talk from the summer of last year, the
start more or less, but from my mouth never came any interest to leave to
Ferrari or any words saying that I will join another team.

“There are a lot of speculations which is not disturbing but it creates a bit
of tension around and stress. But also you feel proud, you feel happy that
the best teams have interest in you and they say it in public.”

Alonso’s choice of language off the track is as adept as his driving on it,
with the phrase “at the moment” hinting there may be a limit to his patience
with Ferrari. Rebuilding under new boss Marco Mattiacci, the team are still
some way off their rivals, with major work needed to get back to the front.
It is also known that last year Alonso’s manager approached Red Bull about a
possible move, highlighting his impatience with the Scuderia to deliver
results.

For now, it seems Alonso will spend another year at Ferrari while he assesses
the new McLaren-Honda partnership in 2015.
