What’s the game about?
If you’ve seen Acura’s Less Talk, More Drive commercial, you know that it’s a campaign that celebrates 30 years of the brand’s existence. More importantly, it focuses on Acura as an automaker that doesn’t parade around its accomplishments. It’s an automaker that focuses strictly on building the best cars it can build and daring others to, in the commercial’s words — and the subsequent game’s title — “beat that.”
This brings is us to the Beat That mobile racing game, which, in addition to giving you the chance to drive the models that were seen in the ad, takes you back in time to different video game eras, beginning with the 8-bit graphics and soundtracks all the way to the more photo-realistic versions of today’s graphics-heavy car racing video games. All told, there are six different levels that you have to navigate through on your way to completing the game.
The Cars You Can Play With
The first level calls for you to drive a 1991 Acura NSX at a track called 8-bit Beach. As you finish each level, you get to race in the next level where the environment is different and the graphics are crisper. Get to Level 2 and you get to race a 1998 Acura Integra Type R at the Warehouse Complex. Complete that level and you get to raise a 2020 Acura RDX A-Spec at the Snowy Summit as part of Level 3.
That’s going to be your ride when you compete at the Grand Prix Circuit. Level 5 takes place at the Super Skyway and you get to race in a 2020 Acura NSX. The last level — Level 6 — puts you in the Cyber Tunnel where you will race to the game’s finish behind the wheel of the Acura Type S Concept.
Test Yourself in Other Game Modes
There’s also more to Beat That than just the six-level racing aspect of the game. The game also features dynamic share cards that allow you to share your results on social media. You can also challenge your friends to a race or two through a variety of instant messaging platforms. If you’re feeling particularly competitive, you can head to the Daily Top 10 rankings or even the All-Time Top 10 leaderboard and challenge yourself to make it on one of the lists, or maybe on both. You’ll compete against a ghost car, but the real challenge is making it to the two leaderboards.
Where You Can Play
Beat That is free. All you have to do is go to Acura’s Beat That page on your desktop or smartphone and the game will automatically load right in the browser. You can also play the game on Facebook’s Instant Games platform. Better charge your phones, though. If you’re going to play Beat That on your phones for an extended period of time, the game will most likely drain your device of all its juice.
