2015 new york auto show - preview - DOC623985 2015 new york auto show - preview - DOC623985

As much excitement as the auto shows in Detroit and Geneva have created so far this year, the New York Auto Show is shaping up to be equally impressive. Following what we’ve seen at recent auto shows, the bright lights of the Big Apple will be focused on plenty of luxury and performance vehicles, but the full breadth of new model introductions will span from a sub-$15,000 Korean-made hatchback to a 1,700-horsepower, American-made hypercar (with a hefty dose of skepticism).

Of course, as with any major auto show, there may be some big surprises, but we won’t have to wait much longer. Media days for the auto show are April 1st and 2nd, and doors are open to the public until the 12th.

2016 Cadillac CT6

Cadillac CT6

After much anticipation, the 2016 Cadillac CT6 will finally make its big debut in New York. Cadillac’s new full-size, rear-drive sedan will finally put Cadillac back in the luxury conversation alongside cars like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW BMW 7 Series. Cadillac has remained tight-lipped about what we can expect from the CT6, but it did reveal that the sedan would debut a new 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 that is estimated to produce around 400 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque.

2017 Lincoln Continental

Lincoln Continental

Although there is still no official confirmation, it looks like Lincoln is ready to spark a brand renaissance when it introduces its own flagship sedan next week — the rear-wheel-drive 2017 Lincoln Lincoln Continental. This launch in still a bit of a wildcard at this point, but it would make total sense. Not only would a new Continental surely steal some – if not most – of the spot from the Cadillac, but it would also happen on Cadillac’s new turf following last year’s announcement that it was moving its headquarters to SoHo.

2016 Jaguar XF

Jaguar XF

Rounding out the lineup of luxury sedan launches taking place in New York, the 2016 Jaguar XF Jaguar XF might be the sexiest. Looking like a stretched version of the Jaguar Jaguar F-Type, the new XF has a more aggressive look than the current model and it should offer improved performance, thanks to a drop in curb weight of up to 265 pounds. At launch, the 2016 XF will have two supercharged V-6 engine options and the choice of rear- or all-wheel drive.

2016 McLaren 570S Coupe

McLaren 570S Coupe

The all-new 570S is McLaren-speak for entry-level sports car. This coupe is the first member of the new McLaren Sports Series, and it is powered by a 3.8-liter V-8 that produces 562 horsepower. The flying buttress evident in this image is likely just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to how wild the 570S’ design will be.

2016 Lyons Motor Car LM2 Streamliner

Lyons Motor Car LM2 Streamliner

There are plenty of big names that will be vying for attention next week in New York, and while Lyons Motor Car might not have a recognizable name, it does have a big idea. The New York-based startup is hoping to produce America’s first hypercar to go up against the likes of the LaFerrari Ferrari and Koenigsegg Koenigsegg One:1. There is still a huge question mark as to whether this car will even be made, but its 3,100-pound curb weight and 1,700-horsepower twin-turbo V-8 is enough to get our attention.

2016 Ford Focus RS

Ford Focus RS

Hot-hatch enthusiasts in the U.S. rejoiced when the 2016 Ford Focus RS debuted at the Geneva Motor Show, and next week, they will get their first chance to see the car in the flesh as the souped-up hatchback makes its North American debut. The existence of the car is one thing, but Ford is still withholding key details about the Focus RS, including its starting price, expected performance capabilities and, the most anticipated detail, engine output. 2016 Infiniti QX50

Infiniti QX50

Without so much as a teaser image to go on, it’s hard to say what the 2016 Infiniti QX50 will look like, but judging by recent Infiniti Infiniti designs, it is sure to be a looker. Since its debut in 2007 (as the EX), this crossover has always come off looking and feeling more like a hatchback version of the then-G sedan, which definitely isn’t a bad thing. If Infiniti can come close to replicating that with this second-gen QX50, then it should be an entertaining entrant in the mid-size luxury crossover segment.

2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class

Mercedes-Benz GLE

The overall styling was revealed last year with the GLE Coupe, but the more conventional GLE-Class has a boxier roofline for more passenger space.
