Design
The Road Star Silverado S has been finished with a rich, lustrous paint and extensive chrome accents that create a machine that looks as stunning as it is powerful. An ultra-thin, tank-mounted speedometer features a stylish design and provides easy reading of the odometer, dual tripmeters, clock, and fuel gauges. These elements go along with a low fuel, high beam, turn signal, neutral, and engine diagnostic indicator lights. A powerful 12V 60/55-watt halogen headlight maximizes nighttime visibility and comes with beautiful chrome finish. Meanwhile, the LED tailights are an added touch and the clear turn signal lenses with amber bulbs create a custom look that offers great visibility and reduced current draw. On top of that, full-size floating-type rider and passenger floorboards are roomy and comfortable as are the two-piece heel/toe shifter, braided stainless clutch, and throttle cables that add even more comfort and style to the cruiser’s overall appeal.
Performance
The Yamaha Road Star Silverado S is powered by a 1,670cc, air-cooled, long-stroke, OHV, 8-valve, 48° V-twin powerplant that pumps out massive loads of low-rpm torque with max torque hitting at 2,500 rpm. The bike also carries four valves per cylinder, providing optimum breathing efficiency while the two spark plugs per cylinder ensure complete combustion for maximum power output. A smooth-shifting five-speed transmission with 5th-gear overdrive delivers outstanding cruising performance with low rpm at highway speeds while a dry sump lubrication system uses a handy spin-on filter, creating a lower center of gravity that helps keep overall engine height to a minimum. A large-flywheel crankshaft delivers superior, low-rpm torque and that incredible V-twin “pulse” feel while an electric starting system features solenoid-activated auto-decompressor for easy, no-hassle starting. The bike’s dry sump lubrication system uses a handy spin-on filter and creates a lower center of gravity by helping keep overall engine height to a minimum.
Chassis and Suspension
The Yamaha Road Star Silverado S comes with a solid-mounted engine housed in specially designed rigid-look, double-cradle frame that features a stylish 32-degree rake. The wheelbase is 66.5″, which is longer than usual, creating a long and low retro profile that promotes added rider comfort and well-balanced handling. Telescopic 43mm front forks offer the kind of comfort required on a bike of this stature while 5.5″ of travel stylishly smooth out the bumps. The bike also has an out-of-sight link-type and a preload-adjustable rear shock that provides
4.3″ of wheel travel for great handling. As for the brakes, the Road Star Silverado S has dual 298mm front disc brakes that include four-piston calipers with aluminum pistons and sintered brake pads to go with a 320mm single rear dis for strong, linear stopping power.
