More photos of the Volkswagen Golf R Cabriolet have surfaced ahead of its official 2013 Geneva Motor Show debut.
The Golf R Cabriolet will be the German automaker’s first drop-top R model and will also be the fastest production convertible Golf when it makes its official debut. Powered by a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine, the Golf R Cabriolet has 261 hp and accelerates to 62 mph in 6.4 seconds.

It also has a top speed rated at 155 mph and will churn through its gears with a six-speed DSG automatic transmission. The exterior styling of the Golf R Cabriolet is similar to its coupe counterpart, with a more aggressive front end, gloss-black grille, and LED daytime running lights. Compared to the standard Golf Cabriolet, the Golf R is almost 1 inch lower to the ground and comes with either 18- or 19-inch wheels.
Four individual sports seats adorn the interior while the driver gets to enjoy a leather-wrapped, multifunction steering wheel.
Volkswagen has not yet said if the Golf R Cabriolet will be available in North America, though if it is, expect it to come at a premium above the already pricey $33,990 hatchback model.
