The Unit – This is the timer we use in our annual Lightning Lap track event. The PerformanceBox shows lap and split timesor a prediction in terms of a plus or minus number compared with the fastest lapbut not concurrently with instantaneous speed or lap count. It has a detailed performance mode offering programmable acceleration, braking, peak-g, and top-speed tests, plus a horsepower estimator. A 2-GB SD data-storage card is included as well as a 12-volt power cord.
GPS Sample Rate – 10 Hz
Features – Lap timing, point-to-point timing, acceleration tests, braking tests, lap prediction, power estimates, peak g, instantaneous speed.
Computer Software – You can compare up to four laps at a time and look at detailed GPS data including g-forces. You can also edit track maps. It takes some getting used to but offers plenty of detail.
The Bottom Line – The little brother to our more expensive Racelogic VBOX II test gear.
