The front end of the U.S.-spec LR4 will wear “Land Rover” lettering instead of “Discovery.”
Land Rover announces that for 2014, the LR4 checks in at $50,595, a modest $600 nudge from 2013 pricing. HSE models increase $1275 to $55,495 and HSE Lux trims start at $60,795, a $1575 jump.
The grunting 5.0-liter V-8 that made the LR4 drink and drive at an alarmingly fast rate is off the table, replaced by a more sensible 340-hp, supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 that teams up with an eight-speed automatic and stop-start technology. The low-range transfer case is now optional on the Heavy Duty package, which offers an electronically locking rear differential and full-size spare tire. The height-adjustable air suspension is untouched.

Xenon headlamps with revised LED accent lighting are now standard on HSE models. HSE Lux models now include the Extended Windsor Leather package—previously a $1000 option—that drapes even more cowhide across the dash, door tops, and other surfaces. A rearview camera and parking sensors are standard across the lineup, while additional active safety features such as blind-spot monitoring and new Meridian sound systems are available.
