Last weekend it may have been Fernando Alonso in a Ferrari who won the German Grand Prix, but the team that was probably most upbeat about the strength and improvement of its car relative to the other teams was McLaren Mercedes. The of y had not qualified well enough in the wet to be able to start well on the grid and therefore win the race. In Hungary today, the McLaren looked like the strongest car, and indeed, Lewis Hamilton set the fastest lap time of both the morning and afternoon sessions. In the last race before the summer break, it will be interesting to see if Alonso manages to pull another rabbit out of his hat in terms of making the most of the not-quite-fast-enough-Ferrari….
