The decision of the Grand Prix Drivers’ Association to threaten a boycott made
plenty of headlines, but it was hardly a surprise. I described tyre failures
as ‘driver killers’ in my column earlier this week and that is exactly what
they are. The GPDA, of which I remain a member, is quite right to say
‘enough is enough’. Changes needed to be made. And for those who think the
threat is empty, I would say: remember Indianapolis 2005.
