Don’t mock it, life in Mokpo can be very cool – and wet too. The first two practice sessions of the Korean Grand Prix were run in the wet today. Michael Schumacher was the fastest in the first session, and Lewis Hamilton was fastest in the second session.
Mokpo is the closest town, and it is not quite lively, but it has its attractions. The track itself is about 20 minutes drive away and you feel like you are as far out as at somewhere like the Spa-Francorchamps circuit. But there is much, much more of a tourism opportunity in Mokpo. As I write these words from my hotel, in fact, I hear the sounds of a Korean rock band outside the window playing in an outdoor stage as a celebration along with the race – and apparently it will go on all night long….
