Several new rule changes have also been announced for next Formula
One season. A three-day mid-season testing window has been
established; previously all mid-season testing had been banned.
Lapped cars will be allowed to unlap themselves under safety car conditions to
avoid getting in the way of the front-runners at the restart, while drivers
are now banned from ‘leaving the track without a justifiable reason’, for
example by cutting a chicane on an in-lap to save fuel.
