CVC owns 63.4pc of Topco and has board control through its directors having
one more vote than those of all the other directors.
Mr Ecclestone also revealed that he was “very tempted” to buy
Renault’s F1 team when the car manufacturer decided to scale back in 2009
but “Donald, said to me, we just can’t. If we owned a team it would
cause us trouble. Every time that team was on TV people would say we were
favouring it.”
