Ricciardo’s presence on track at least prompted a late flurry of activity,
with 11 drivers overall bothering to post a time.

Ricciardo’s best time was a one minute 54.249secs, followed by Nico Hulkenberg
in his Sauber, Williams’ Pastor Maldonado and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton, the
latter 1.209secs adrift.

The others to clock a time were Sauber’s Esteban Gutierrez, Valtteri Bottas in
his Williams, Vergne, Caterham’s Giedo van der Garde, Max Chilton for
Marussia and team-mate Jules Bianchi, along with Felipe Massa in his
Ferrari.

Charles Pic would likely have set a time, but he was the one driver who
managed to crash in the woeful conditions, losing his front wing at Club
corner.

Raikkonen was the only driver who bothered not to venture out at all.
