The stable of BMW M cars serving as MotoGP’s official vehicles will grow by one more come the middle of this season. The new M6 will join a fleet consisting of the M5, the 1-series M, the X6 M, the M3, the X5 M, the ActiveHybrid X6, and the 535i Touring.

M GmbH has adorned the new M6 in carbon fiber with the addition of a new front splitter, side mirrors, and an adjustable rear wing. BMW hasn’t made details available as yet, but we don’t expect any performance modifications to the M6’s 560-hp, twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8. Like the 1-series M safety car introduced for 2011, we expect the new M6 to get a lightweight exhaust, bigger brakes, a carbon-fiber hood, and wider rubber.

The 2012 M5 made its debut as MotoGP’s safety car last August at the Indianapolis round. This year’s Indy GP or the German GP at the end of July would be likely races for the latest M monster to make its on-track debut.
