Update 8/10: Audi has revealed its “surprise” RS5 for Pikes Peak by revealing these photos and video. The folks from Ingolstadt aren’t saying anything more about the RS5 other than that the car is a celebration of the brand’s heritage at the event. Audi is sharing this celebration with Ducati, which the German brand recently completed the purchase of. The Ducatis in the photos and video are Multistrada 1200s—Ducati added a Pikes Peak Special Edition Multistrada to its lineup last summer.

Audi has a surprise in store for this weekend’s Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The company hasn’t divulged any information beyond the above photo of a shadowy RS5. The 90th running of the Pikes Peak Hill Climb will take place this weekend after being postponed from its original date of July 8 due to the wildfires in Colorado.

There are no RS5s included on the entry list for this year’s race—not yet, anyway—leading us to believe this one could be some sort of Pikes Peak special edition or the event’s pace car, or possibly both. We expect to have more information on Audi’s Pikes Peak RS5 surprise later in the week.
