Fernando Alonso continued to lead his Ferrari team through a difficult season with more brilliant driving and being in the right place at the right time – from pole to victory, despite not having the fastest car. Sebastian Vettel, in the meantime, again failed to win his home race, and to add insult to injury, the German driver was given a punishment after the race for going off the track while passing Jenson Button in a McLaren Mercedes with two laps left to take second place. Vettel was thrown back to fifth, Button moved to first, and Kimi Raikkonen in a Lotus, moved to third. What a day!
