The entrants to this year’s LA Design Challenge have been revealed, with all the designs heading to this year’s LA Auto Show for their official unveiling.
This year’s LA Design Challenge had a theme of “Biomimicry and Mobility: 2025″ and features the most interesting and futuristic concepts we’ve ever seen. The winning entrant will be select on November 21 and judges might have a difficult time, considering every participant has a quality concept to show off.

And this year it wasn’t all about the typical automakers you’ve come to know over the past few decades. Chinese automakers such as Changfeng, JAC Motors, Qoros and SAIC Motor all have designs in this year’s competition, competing against BMW, Mazda, Subaru and Toyota.
Concepts draw influence from biology with Subaru’s being rather unique as a “one-legged, self-contained, wearable mobility vehicle with a propulsion method which mimics the efficient yet powerful jumping motions of a kangaroo.” Mazda, on the other hand, studied how insects have adapted and applied that into the idea that humans will no longer be driving their own cars by 2025.
