Porshce 911 GT3 Track Therapy

Do you know what’s more relaxing than listening to Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony? Listening to a Porsche 911 (991.2) GT3 RS driving around an empty Watkins Glen race track without a care in the world. Ok, so I may be a tad bit biased on my audio preferences, but if you haven’t listened to a 911 GT3 RS in this kind of habitat, then you’re missing out on something that’s more important than Beethoven’s music. Ok, not really, but you get the point.

Fortunately, your curiosities — if you are curious — is about to be rewarded, thanks in large part to this 11-minute video provided by YouTuber Speedracer38. I will tell you now that you’re probably going to be transfixed at the sound of the 911 GT3 RS’ 520-horsepower, 4.0-liter flat-six engine as it shatters what is an otherwise quiet and tranquil video of the sports car steadily running around the British circuit.

Doesn’t it feel relaxing? More importantly, doesn’t it feel like your day just got better, even there’s still an afternoon left to deal with? This is one of the side effects of listening to the 911 GT3 RS lazily drive around an empty race track with no other cars ruining its vibe. Mind you, the GT3 RS is a performance fiend when it has to be. That 520-horsepower output helps it clock a 0-t0-60-mph time of three seconds flat on its way to a top speed of 193 mph. It’s one of Porsche’s greatest track toys, and its billing is justified by its whopping $187,500 starting price.

I know. It’s expensive as heck, and there’s no chance that I’ll be able to afford one in the near — or far — future. But just because the real car is out of reach, that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy it from the safety of my work desk. So go watch the video — if you’ve watched it, go watch it again — and enjoy 11 minutes worth of the Porsche 911 (991.2) GT3 RS on an empty race track. If this doesn’t set your mood right for the work week ahead, I seriously don’t know what will.
