The world hasn’t run out of muscle car drag races and we’re not about to start complaining. These races are always awesome, especially if we’re dealing with two like-minded monsters like the Dodge Challenger Hellcat 
and the Chevrolet Camaro SS. Actually, the Camaro doesn’t come in its standard 455-horsepower form, because if it did, it would be woefully outgunned by the 707-horsepower Challenger Hellcat. So to make this an even “tale-of-the-tape” race, Hennessey fitted the Chevy with its HPE750 program, allowing it to produce an outrageous 751 horsepower. Feels more like a competitive race now, doesn’t it?
To maintain the one-on-one feel of the race, Hennessey even added some life bars on top of the screen ala Street Fighter, except that this isn’t a Ryu versus Ken showdown. It’s the Challenger Hellcat versus the Hennessey-tuned Camaro SS.
The race is what you’d come to expect considering who made the video. The Challenger, despite packing all that power, gets walloped by the Camaro SS. In Street Fighter lingo, the latter scored a “perfect!” victory, keeping its health bar fully intact as the Challenger’s own bar screamed bloody red.
I guess that’s to be expected since the video actually plays out like an advertorial for Hennessey’s HPE750 program for the Chevy muscle car. I can’t blame the American tuner for taking that approach, especially when its kit comes with a host of impressive upgrades, including a TVS2300 supercharger running seven pounds of boost, a full exhaust system with 1.75-inch stainless long-tube headers, high-flow catalytic converters, and CNC ported cylinder head ports, among other upgrades. The result is as potent as Ryu’s Hadoken as the Camaro SS improves its 0-to-60-mph time to just 3.1 seconds to go with a top speed of 205 mph.
If there are any doubts as to what Hennessey is capable of doing with a Chevrolet Camaro SS, consider this video as proof of the possibilities.
