While Verstappen, replacing Jean-Eric Vergne, impressed, another driver
standing in did not. Daniel Juncadella drove in place of Sergio Perez for
Force India but had a torrid time.
First, he left his garage directly in front of Kimi Raikkonen before spinning
at turn six. Later in the session he crashed headfirst into the barriers at
turn eight, bringing at the red flags and leaving Perez with almost no
running in the afternoon.
In free practice two, Rosberg was leading the way from Hamilton again. Both
were suffering with blistering on the soft tyres, on a warm day in Sao
Paulo, but Rosberg seemed to manage it better. His best effort – a 1min
12.1secs lap – was two-tenths quicker than Hamilton’s fastest.
