In the end, it was Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull who became the youngest triple world champion in history at age 25, and also only the third driver to win three titles in a row after Juan Manuel Fangio and Michael Schumacher.
Jenson Button won the Brazilian Grand Prix on Sunday, Fernando Alonso finished second. Vettel only finished sixth, but that was enough for him to beat Alonso to the title, winning the championship by 281 to 278 points.
Vettel now has plenty of time to equal Alain Prost’s four titles, and even go after the seven world titles of Michael Schumacher. Vettel said his team director forgot to mention Prost as a triple champion, after mentioning all the triple champions.
