The last time I was looking to buy space saver wheels and wheel bearings online, I was stupefied at the huge number of partfinder websites that my Google search returned! I knew I had to do some research now so I went around reading random articles and online reviews about partfinder sites. After a few days of ignoring my papers and dozing off during lectures about Palladian arches, I read enough to get some kind of diploma or at least talk like a bloke who pretends to own a garage. Some of the articles I read suggested I do three things, or look for three things, so I decided to rate the websites on three tests: ease of use, pricing and the database. I ran them on the three websites but to avoid sounding like somebody who actually got paid to compare websites and let the one who paid me win, I’ll name only the winner and refrain from using the names of the other two.
- Ease of use: I tried searching for my space saver wheels and wheel bearings on all the three websites and it was, well, interesting. Website A had one of big obtrusive ads right on their homepage but no list of spares or car models. 247 Spares had a decent list and clicking on a car make took me directly to a list of different parts to choose from. Website B had a list like 247 Spares, but clicking on them just returns you a mini-article about why to choose their service and a promise that they will let you choose your part and find it from their 250+ partners all over UK only after entering your registration number. No confusions there about the winner here.

- Prices: All three websites claim to offer 80% discount. But 247 Spares was the only one that could show me a precise list of parts and prices without any hassles. I tried accessing the catalogues on both the other websites but I had to either get the quotes through phone or type dumb additional information. I was looking for space saver wheels and Power Steering Pump but all Website B wanted to know were number of doors and info like the car’s color. Website An either didn’t have space saver wheels, or they’ve done a fantastic job in hiding them. So it’s 247 Spares which wins the race again, but only because the other two didn’t show up.
- The database: The results on the last two tests should be enough to tell you that I couldn’t find any sort of database on two of the websites, so 247 Spares’ ease of use helps it sail ahead of the competition again.
So it’s really clear here about which website to choose when trying to find a car part. As much as I tried to be fair, the other two websites just kept letting me down so 247 Spares became the obvious choice. It claims to be the most visited and trusted website for people looking to find a car part, but maybe there’s a reason for that. And sure enough, I bought the space saver wheels and wheel bearings from them.
