Meanwhile, organisers of the United States Grand Prix have expressed
dissatisfaction with their 2013 race date.
The Austin race is scheduled to be penultimate round of the season on Nov 17
with the final race due to take place in Brazil a week later.
However, the University of Texas has an American football game against
Oklahoma State on Nov 16, an event also expected to draw a crowd of over
100,000 fans.
“We feel confident that Formula One has taken our concerns seriously and is
working earnestly towards a collective solution,” chairman Bobby Epstein
told The Austin American-Statesman.
A switch with Sao Paulo would appear to be the only realistic option, although
Brazilian GP organisers would be loath to give up the final slot.
Turkish motorsport officials say the return of the country’s grand prix from
next year is now up to the government after agreeing terms with Formula
One chief executive Bernie Ecclestone.
