At the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show today, Subaru unveiled its Levorg concept, a sporty wagon that’s set to arrive in Japan next year but, unfortunately, isn’t likely to cross the Pacific.
Though it was revealed in concept form, it’s likely that not a whole lot will change once the production model debuts at dealerships in Japan in 2014. According to the Japanese automaker, the Levorg is a sporty, yet practical wagon that was created for “comfortable passenger space for long drives.” The all-wheel-drive wagon will come with two engine choices: a 1.6-liter Boxer turbocharged four cylinder or a larger 2.0-liter Boxer four cylinder, also turbocharged.

The smaller powerplant will produce 168 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque while the larger 2.0-liter engine generates 296 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Both engines will be mated to a CVT with the 1.6-liter turbo engine getting a standard Lineartronic CVT. The 2.0-liter engine however, nabs itself a sportier version of the transmission that features a sport mode with pseudo-manual shifting to an eighth “gear.”
On the inside, the Japanese automaker has outfitted it with 3.5-inch instrument dials, a flat-bottom steering wheel and piano black and metallic trim. It will also have the latest version of Subaru’s EyeSight safety system.
The wagon will come in two trim levels in Japan: GT and GT-S.
