The production version of the luxury four-door plug-in hybrid debuted in Detroit today. That, nearly a year to the day since the company bearing the name of Danish auto designer Henrik Fisker unveiled the Karma pre-production concept. Fisker says the Karma is powered by a hybrid powertrain developed by Quantum Technologies, developer of the Aggressor prototype attack vehicle. Details on the powertrain are light, but Fisker says it’ll get 50 miles on a charge, with a 300-mile total range, or an equivalent of 100 miles per gallon. The company also says the production Karma will get from zero to 60 in 5.8 seconds, with a top speed of 125 miles per hour.
Fisker says it’s already taken 1000 deposits on the Karma, which will start ,900. Also in Detroit, Fisker revealed the Sunset concept roadster. That the company says will preview a short-wheelbase model that could arrive by 2011.
