Hamilton finished fourth with Schuamcher fifth in his Mercedes.
Speaking later on Wednesday to veteran Formula One journalist Peter Windsor,
Daly added that Schumacher had been indulged for too long by the
authorities.
“I don’t think that blocking another driver takes a lot of skill,”
said the Irishman. “I also believe at the highest levels of motorsport
there should be a professional etiquette. “Michael crosses those lines
a bit too often but he has been allowed to cross those lines for years.
Junior drivers see that and they think that is how they have to drive.”
Daly added that Article 20.2 – the rule which forbids two changes of direction
– was “a grey area” because it is unclear whether moving
back to the racing line constitutes a second change of direction.
On the subject of why he missed the Schumacher-Hamilton incident at the time,
Daly suggested that in future perhaps two of the four stewards should be
looking into incidents and the other two should continue to watch the race
feed. He confirmed that race control had not asked the stewards to look at
the incident during the grand prix.
