As far as we know, BMW isn’t working on a long-roof version of the 2013 6-series Gran Coupe, but if it were, it could look like the car pictured above. Recently, BMW spun off the four-door Gran Coupe from the 6-series coupe and convertible lineup. A 6-series wagon at first may not seem like the ideal fit for the expanding 6er family, but consider that Mercedes-Benz is hard at work on a wagon version of the CLS “four-door coupe.” (The upcoming Benz is being inaccurately referred to as a shooting brake, but it has four doors and thus technically is a wagon.) Audi’s A7, although a hatchback and not quite a wagon, is selling in unexpectedly high numbers in the U.S.

Based on Audi’s success in the A7 and Mercedes’ continued planning for the CLS Shooting Brake, the market for stylish, low-slung, and expensive variants appears to exist. So do our hopes that BMW may actually build a more practical (and in the name of all things wagon, more awesome by default) 6-series model like the one rendered here.
