Vijay is one of the shareholders. Obviously he’s the face of Kingfisher,
and the chairman, so it stops with him. But in terms of where they’ve got to
go it’s a shareholder process.”

Formula One chief executive Bernie Ecclestone said he did not feel that
Kingfisher’s woes – allied to those of another of the team’s major
shareholders, the Sahara group, which has been ordered by India’s supreme
court to refund $3bn to its investors – would impact on the future of
the Silverstone-based team.

Ecclestone said: “I’ve known Vijay for 30-odd years and in his business
life he’s always had ups and downs. I don’t think Vijay’s problem
will affect the team.”
