General Motors has released a full list of all the recalls it has issued thus far in 2014 which reveals that the total number of cars affected worldwide is sitting at 15.8 million. 

2014 Year to Date North American Recalls Including ExportsOut of the total, 13.7 million recalled vehicles are in the United States. This slew of recalls began with a recall of the Chevy Cobalt, Saturn Ion and other small GM cars over faulty ignition switches. It was then uncovered that GM knew of the issues for years, but did not conduct a recall, which caused NHTSA to fine the company $35 million. Those problems were linked to 13 deaths.

Since the ignition switch troubles came to light, GM has overhauled its recall and safety practices which has brought about a massive list of additional recalls.

The cause of the recalls vary greatly, ranging from an inaccurate fuel gauge in the 2014 Chevy Traverse to power steering issues on the 2010 Chevy HHR.
