Formula One’s chief executive is claiming that Gribkowsky told prosecutors
what they wanted to hear in an effort to reduce his sentence.

The speculation has come at an awkward time. Negotiations over a new Concorde
Agreement, the commercial pact which binds the teams to the commercial
rights holder, are at a delicate stage.

All but one of the big teams have signed up, with Mercedes-Benz said to be
close, although the governing body’s position remains unclear. FIA
president Jean Todt has said he would like to renegotiate the terms on which
it is leased the commercial rights.
