Hamilton, who won last year’s German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring, added
that reaching 100 grands prix felt “very, very satisfying”.

“It feels like a huge milestone,” he said. “Just to get to one grand prix
was a dream so to get to 100, I can’t really believe it. Jenson won
his 200th grand prix in Hungary last year and I’d love to be able to
do the same with my 100th.”

“I have a lot of faith in this team, we’re like a family,” Hamilton added
on the subject of his future, which remains unclear with his present
contract expiring at the end of the season. “Anything different would
feel very abnormal.

“For me, when you are in a position like this for the first time, you have
to do due diligence, and you have to make sure that you look at the whole
grid. You have to look at all your options and know all your plans, and not
rush into things.

“Some of the worst decisions are generally the ones that are rushed.”

Force
India’s
British driver Paul di Resta, currently without a manager
following his split with Hamilton’s father Anthony, admitted he was
watching on with interest. Di Resta harbours hopes of a move to a bigger
team but his chances of doing so depend on seats being vacated.

“There’s a lot of talk about drivers moving at the moment,” di Resta said.
“There are drives everywhere. It’s fairly confusing what is going on at
the moment, even with Lewis. I don’t think anybody has got an indication of
who is going in which direction.

“You need to weigh up your options at any given point, and the biggest thing
for me is making sure I am in a Formula 1 car next year,” he said. “We
are only halfway through the season, and I am trying to get the best results
for Force India.

“There’s still two [race] weekends to go and I believe [after] that is the
time when you start to make sure you are putting yourself in the right
places and making sure you know what you are doing.

“It is a crucial decision. I’ll need to decide pretty quickly what way I
want to go. It’s in the background and I’m dealing with it when I’ve got
time.”
