Two-time world champion Alonso said on Thursday morning that he had spoken to
Kubica in the wake of his fall and wished him well for his recovery.
“For me the best driver is Robert Kubica,” he said. “I spoke with him
yesterday after his accident. When he returns, which will surely be soon,
I’m sure he will continue to be the best driver.”
Asked if he would like to race alongside his good friend at Ferrari – Felipe
Massa is out of contract at the end of this season – the Spaniard said
diplomatically. “I’m very happy with Felipe.”
Meanwhile, the BBC has confirmed Ben Edwards as its lead commentator
for the forthcoming season, alongside David Coulthard.
James Allen will be the lead commentator for Radio 5 live, with Jennie Gow
announced as pitlane reporter.
Former Jordan technical director Gary Anderson will replace Sky-bound Ted
Kravitz as a technical analyst “providing insight from the pitlane on
all the latest developments in strategy and technology from the team garages.”
