In his desperation Hamilton, who admitted on Thursday that he sometimes
“swerved the truth” as a driver manager, went one step further, conceding
that he lied to Go Fast concerning Force India’s energy drinks rights, which
he claimed had already been acquired by Belir when in fact they had not. “It
was a holding lie,” Hamilton said. “I would be a dishonest man if I said I
had never lied.”

“Mr Hamilton, you are a dishonest man,” Paul Downes QC, representing Di Resta,
said.

The most startling revelation of the day concerned a “backdated” email that
Hamilton is alleged to have created during the period in question and then
submitted in evidence.

Hamilton, who had denied for two days that he altered the times and dates on
his emails, said on Friday that his builders had been installing some
“pretty sophisticated equipment” at his new home in Tewin, including CCTV
cameras linked to his iPad. “They have informed me that they have been
changing the dates and times of my iPad regularly during this time,”
Hamilton said. The case continues.
