Ford is issuing a recall on its 2013 Escape and Fusion models equipped with the 1.6-liter engine for a possible fire hazard.

According to the American automaker, the engine could overheat and cause a fire and so far there have been reports of 12 fires for the Escape and one for the Fusion. The voluntary recall will affect 73,320 Escape vehicles and 15,833 Fusions across U.S. and Canada. The automaker is advising customers to contact a dealer as soon as possible and the dealership will provide rental cars at no additional charge.

Ford is still determining what causes the engine to overheat as well as a fix for the issue. Thankfully so far no injuries have been reported related to the issue.

This will mark the fourth recall for the 2013 Escape since it launched earlier this spring.

“We have identified an issue and are taking actions in the best interest of our customers,” Steve Kenner, director of Ford’s automotive safety office, said in a statement. “It is important that affected customers not ignore this recall and contact their dealer as soon as possible. While we recognize the inconvenience recalls cause our customers, we are taking these actions on their behalf to help ensure their safety.”
