A 1957 Ferrari Testa Rossa has become the most expensive car ever sold in Britain at $39 million.
The vehicle sold was a 1957 prototype of the Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa and competed twice at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and was also driven by Formula 1 world champion, Phil Hill. Previously owned by investor Eric Heerema, the vehicle was sold to Derbyshire dealer Tom Hartley Junior, who has revealed that the vehicle has been sold but wouldn’t confirm the exact price.

Sources however believe the anonymous buyer paid over £24.1 million, making it the most expensive vehicle publicly sold in Britain. The exact vehicle sold was chassis 0704 and was designed by legendary Ferrari pioneer Sergio Scaglietti and competed in the 1957 Le Mans, running as high as the second position but failed to finish the race. It did however, pick up two victories at the 1,000 km Buenos Aires and 12 Hours of Sebring races.
