Volkswagen didn’t need a supercar during this year’s Geneva Motor Show to get attention; it had the XL1.
The German automaker wowed show goers by announcing that its 261-mpg super efficient car wasn’t a concept, but a production car. With only 250 scheduled for production, the XL1 was said to carry a price tag around $100,000.

But that price tag might not mean much because the company will likely only offer the car through a leasing program, a Volkswagen spokesman confirmed the AutoBlog Green.
The XL1 seats two people, uses a 47-hp, two-cylinder turbo-diesel engine paired with a 27 hp electric motor and has a wind-cutting 0.189 coefficient of drag.
Volkswagen hasn’t released lease rates for the car.
