Taking center stage at Porsche’s return to the Detroit Auto Show next week will be the all-new 911 Cabriolet. It’s not, however, the biggest news the German sports car maker will announce.
Rather, Porsche will confirm that later this year it will begin sales of a diesel version of its top seller, the Cayenne SUV. Pricing has yet to be announced, but the luxury SUV (which is already on sale in other markets) is powered by a 3.0-liter V6, making 245 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque, and is capable of a 0-60 time of 7.6 seconds.
Last year Porsche Cayenne sales in the U.S. accounted for 55.6 percent of total sales.
