Here’s the checklist for a new car to fit in at Monterey Car Week: it has to be rare, has to make lots of power, it has to look crazy, and it has to have some motorsports element involved. Yes, the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 ticks all the boxes.

With production capped at 300 units, this Jaguar will certainly be a future classic, although buyers may be tempted to have some fun with this four-door super sedan. With nearly 600 horsepower under the hood from a supercharged V8, the XE SV Project 8 hits highway speeds in just 3.3 seconds. Other hot components in this car include adjustable suspension, race-inspired aerodynamics, carbon ceramic brakes and an electronic differential.

An interesting twist for U.S. buyers is that they can’t get the true, two-seat track package for the XE SV Project 8 that European customers get. That’s just fine because doing so would have resulted in the rear seats being chucked for a roll cage.

And if you were to ditch the rear seats, you’d lose some of the nicer details found in the XE SV Project 8, which include unique stitched emblems and fancy carbon fiber accents.

To further its appeal here in Monterey, Jaguar has the XE SV Project 8 super sedans over at the iconic Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca racetrack as well.
