The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is opening an investigation on 393,000 Hyundai Sonatas over reports of rust that have led to electrical problems.
The preliminary investigation affects 2006-2008 model year Sonatas and NHTSA has received six complaints where rear suspension control arms have failed due to rear subframe rust. According to the complaints filed, three were reported at highway speeds while two stated that the failure caused an activation of the vehicle’s electronic stability control system.
